Illustrations for “From hate to hope: Inquiry into hate in the COVID-19 pandemic”

Commissioned by: the British Columbia’s Human Rights Commissioner

Caution: visitors may find content in this report distressing.

I was commissioned by the BC Office of Human Rights Commissioner to create multiple supporting illustrations for their report “From hate to hope: Inquiry into hate in the COVID-19 pandemic”. The illustrations were used for both print and web versions throughout the chapters. Using their brand colours as a main reference point, these illustrations have people at the centre and capture both pain and empowerment of the vulnerable communities that were and are affected.

Centering diverse people and faces humanizes the long-form content that contains stories, statistics and research findings. This was one of the most meaningful projects I’ve been involved with to date, and I am grateful for all the knowledge sharers and storytellers that brought this report together.
