“Hate to Hope” Mural at the Britannia Ice Rink, 1661 Napier Street, Vancouver, BC (2023)
Commissioned by the BC’s Office of Human Rights Commissioner
Production: Vancouver Mural Festival

Titled "Hate to Hope," this mural is a celebration of community togetherness and resiliency. An elderly woman on the left looks proudly upon a community of people in connection with one another, reaching for the stars — a symbol of hope. The flowing river at the base and ascending native wildflowers and leaves represent growth, endurance and peace. Using vivid and bright colours, this mural embodies collective transformation.

Commissioned by the BC's Office of the Human Rights Commissioner, this mural would not be possible without the support from Malena Mokhovikova, former Britannia student, and the youth at Britannia Secondary School.
